- Enhance and maintain our sensor network and data infrastructure using Java, TypeScript, Python and AWS cloud technologies.
- Develop software tools for internal use by scientists, to improve operations and data quality for algae experiments conducted in the laboratory, greenhouse, or demonstration facility (i.e., algal farm).
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to transform user needs into design inputs and software requirements.
- Use best practices for code development, optimization, and unit testing.
- Participate in technical discussions with the team and communicate complex technologies in interdisciplinary environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technology discipline
- 7+ years of software development experience
- 2+ years of full stack web development experience
- 2+ years of experience with database development
- 1+ year with AWS technologies
- Strong back-end development experience with Java, Python, RESTful webservices and ORM tools.
- Front-end development experience with TypeScript or JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, React, Angular, CSS and HTML with solid understanding of asynchronous programming.
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies (e.g., Serverless/CloudFormation, Kinesis, AppSync, DynamoDB, Lambda, CloudWatch).
- Proficient with source control tools (e.g., git) and CI/CD practices.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating on an interdisciplinary team and delivering high-quality software products.
- Passionate about writing readable, reusable, and extensible code.

Our unparalleled understanding of algal genetics and ability to translate innovation from lab to field underpins our initial deployment: a scalable platform to produce low-carbon sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel (RD) based on hyper-productive Viridos algae.
We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Sensor Network and Analytics Platform (SNAP) team. We are looking for creative problem solvers with both a passion for innovation and a focus on delivering technical solutions. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of software development projects ranging from backend platform enhancements to improve data infrastructure and automated collection services to front-end enhancements focused on improving the user experience for integrated systems management. This role is part of an interdisciplinary team of data professionals, biologists, and engineers focused on developing technology solutions required to deploy our algal strains into a demonstration facility within the next two years.

Estimated base salary range for a Senior Software Engineer is $130,000- $160,000 annually depending on previous experience. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated as well.
