- Drive an engineering team to develop delivery goals within agreed timelines
- Facility Agile Scrum practices within the team, offer support to Engineering managers in defining timelines and project requirements
- Ensure the team is developing software quality in-line with the broader teams’ expectations
- Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards
- Empower and develop the engineering team’s skills
- Facilitate training, ensure all engineers are meeting needs and gaining help to close gaps
- Grow a culture that elicits a high-performing team and a fun working environment
- Working collaboratively with the Business Stakeholders, and Business Programme Managers and Implementation partners to ensure delivery success
- Co-ordinate and report on technology improvements to leadership
- Ensure platforms are available to all authorised team members and partners
- Protect and enhance the business reputation with customers, stakeholders, regulators and media
- Accountable for personal and team compliance with internal company policies, procedures and codes, eg Code of Conduct, and all applicable external laws, regulations, standards and industry codes eg Fair trading Laws
- Commitment to the corporate and or relevant Brand/ Retail Support Compliance Program
- Integration of compliance requirements into team performance reviews
- Seasoned software engineer with at least 10 years' experience on the tools
- Experience in mentoring and coaching developers
- Experience with web technologies (HTML5, Node, TypeScript & React)
- Extensive experience with Python programming language
- Experience with AWS is advantageous
- Experienced in modern development practises including the use of CI/CD pipelines, Git and secure coding practises desirable but not essential
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture
- Experience with event driven architecture and related services
- Familiar with SQL & NoSQL databases
- Experience with test automation
- Ability to drive software engineering practices
- Experience in an agile working environment
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Experience managing relationships with senior leaders
- Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
- Practiced understanding of leadership principals
- Aptitude for technology leadership, grooming & training
- Stakeholder management skills
- Great people communicator, excellent communication skills
- Ability to coordinate across multiple technology and business teams
- Bachelor’s degree, equivalent or above

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will primarily be responsible for building and nurturing not only our consumer facing products but also our engineering culture.
