- Leads teams of 2-4 people that develop, test, and fix defects in application software.
- Leads the preparation of overall application software designs at the system level.
- Leads work teams in preparing work estimates and project schedules for all technical work for the projects within the team.
- Leads work teams in resolving complex problems that usually are limited to one system.
- Maintains expert knowledge on the systems and tools within the scope of the team's responsibility. Maintains expert knowledge of the business processes supported by the systems. Maintains expert-level knowledge of software development best practices, tools, and methodologies that are recognized throughout Information Systems.
- Leads teams focused on quality and continuous improvement initiatives across business units within the company.
- Maintains expert knowledge of the technologies and practices of the company's chosen markets. Maintains awareness of trends in technologies and vendor product offerings.
- Associate degree (or higher) –OR- 2+ years professional work experience.
- 3+ years experience in software development or testing.
- Experience with multiple Operating Systems (Linux, Windows).
- Experience with Content Management (AEM, Django CMS)
- Experience with multiple development languages and frameworks (Python, Java, REACT, REACT Native, Flutter, JavaScript, Django, jQuery)
- Experience with Version Control (GitLab)
- Experience with Observability tools (Dynatrace, Elastic)
- Experience with multiple database technologies (Couchbase, MySQL, Oracle)
- Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins)
- Experience with Message Broker/Event Streaming (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Experience with Automated Testing
- Ability to travel as needed for company business and professional development.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for system implementations and resolving system problems.
- Ability to participate in an oncall rotation
Overview
As the Senior Software Engineer (Remote), you will join a small team of associates dedicated to creating, enhancing, and supporting our Omnichannel customer experience. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with teams across the enterprise to develop web-based and mobile applications consumed by our TDS customers. Team members work in a Linux environment and utilize multiple technologies to provide a first-class customer experience. You will have the opportunity to leverage a geographically diverse active-active private cloud environment with a focus on virtual machines and containers along with a multi public cloud footprint.
The position works independently or leads teams of 2-4 people responsible for application design, development, testing, and problem resolution. The scope of work includes small system enhancements to major system projects. As an experienced developer and a beginning technical leader the position receives regular mentoring, feedback, and supervision by senior technical staff and management on team leadership skills.
This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.
The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and equity awards.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others.
