      Description:

      Global Engineering Solutions (GES) is responsible for delivering capital projects with innovative technology and engineering solutions for our customers to reach the required business outcomes. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities to impact diverse areas within the Large Molecule, Small Molecule/API, and Animal Health spaces, including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation. A key function of how we design and deliver these solutions is our Production Systems (MPS) – an integrated production system for how we design, build, manage, and continuously improve our operations and supporting business processes, enabled through the development of our people. With MPS as the foundation for how we manufacture success, GES MPS is responsible for partnering with the GES integrated project teams and external partners to ensure the projects we execute are designed with key MPS principles to enable long term operability (operational excellence).

      Under the direction of the GES MPS Leader, the Sr. Specialist will work with the GES integrated project teams (Business Integration, Technology Center, Global Delivery, Project Business Support, End-to-End Solutions) as well as key stakeholders including Technical Operations, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality partners across all business units to optimally design new facilities and technology solutions in support of both pipeline and in-line products utilizing MPS methodology and tools. The Sr. Specialist will work with minimal supervision on driving improvement and right-first-time design at the project and systems level to ensure the highest quality, shortest lead time, and lowest cost. The role will have significant exposure to our Manufacturing Division Capital Management Process, GES Asset Delivery Process, and shape application of World Class Supply Chain Design principles to the Front-End Loading Design (FEL) phases through Start-up Readiness. Due to the nature of the work, accelerated timelines and diversity of sites, current expected travel will be around 25% (subject to change as travel restrictions vary).

      Responsibilities & Capabilities:

      • Utilize various tools, techniques, and ways of thinking in conjunction with the House of MPS to design, analyze, and improve process and facility designs on assigned projects to deliver simple, reliable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions

      • Support process design from FEL 0 through FEL3, as well as Start-up Readiness, as a key member of GES integrated project teams, including MPS support on developing management systems required for project delivery

      • Provide teaching and coaching to effectively transfer Lean skills across project teams and continuously develop their knowledge of MPS and its application to our work. Design and lead multiple project workshops for information gathering, development of optimal solutions, and relationship building with project teams

      • Provide coaching and leadership around improving GES business processes including systems enabling project design and execution

      • Able to engage and coach GES project teams and stakeholders/clients at all levels to ensure we are designing solutions to meet highest standards around OA, changeover, facility layout and process design for successful long-term operability

      • Manage teams to mitigate risk, allocate resources, and drive on time completion of initiatives

      • Mentor others on effective communication and active listening techniques to fully understand client/customer needs and expectations

      • Proactively recognize and mitigate barriers to initiatives

      • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and challenging the status quo

      • Build trust and develop new relationships with internal and external clients to effectively collaborate and achieve successful outcomes

      Required Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering Degree desired or in a related field

      • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering, or consulting environments

      • Hands-on application of Lean tools and techniques: standardized work, scientific problem solving, value stream mapping, mistake proofing, 5S-Visual Factory

      • Lean application experience, understanding and successful application of TPS critical thinking skills

      • Experience applying consultative skills: ability to influence decision making, ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to shop floor working teams), project management skills, solid business acumen, proven team building skills, exceptionally good listening skills, results oriented, strong analytical skills, and prior process improvement experience

      • Coaching, Teaching, and driving a High Performance Organization. Proven experience in coaching and teaching others to think, behave and apply lean methods and tools

      • Exceptional group facilitation & capability build skills – willing to speak up and interject to keep teams on track to a common goal

      • Experience enabling and leveraging diverse perspectives, talents, etc. to achieve business outcomes

      • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

      • Developing business acumen to support business case analysis

      Preferred Experience:

      • Use of the Toyota Business Practice (8 Step) for problem solving

      • Training in Lean based on the Toyota Production System (TPS)

      • Obtained Yellow belt, Green belt, and/or Black belt

      • Experience utilizing MPS in a cross-functional environment is preferred

      • Experience analyzing complex end-to-end supply chains and driving process improvement

      • Excellent skills using IT applications to organize and analyze date (MS-Access, MS-Excel, Minitab, Power BI), Coding knowledge in MS Excel or related application is a plus

      • Experience in operations management, manufacturing, or related disciplines

      • Experience in a Vaccines or Sterile pharmaceutical environment

      $111,400.00 - $175,300.00
