      Your day-to-day:

      • Organize and direct the university's program of grants and sponsored research, under the direction of the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) administration.
      • Co-direct the day-to-day operation of Sponsored Programs.
      • Coordinate and facilitate obtaining external funding for research, faculty funding opportunities, and ensuring that all proposals and awards conform to federal, state, university, and sponsor guidelines.
      • Train staff in the use of electronic research administration (eRA) proposal development and submission system.
      • Maintain correct routing hierarchy for eRA and communicate updates/changes to SPS in WL.
      • Provide functional supervision to Post-Award Manager and ensure smooth management of all grants, from pre-award to expiration.
      • Develop and present grantsmanship related programs to faculty (preparation of proposals, etc.).
      • Collaborate with faculty and staff in all units of the university to develop and submit grant proposals to external sponsors, including electronic submissions; develop budgets according to funding guidelines; assure research compliance.
      • Provide guidance with IRB compliance issues and refer faculty to appropriate office for approvals.
      • Disseminate information regarding funding opportunities to faculty and staff on a regular basis.
      • Perform faculty-specific funding searches utilizing GRC GrantSearch and PIVOT.
      • Train faculty on use of available online resources, including GRC and COS/PIVOT.
      • Serve as a designated approver for all academic affairs external grant proposals.
      • Serve as primary contact and liaison with Purdue West Lafayette SPS Central Pre-Award.
      • Maintain communication through monthly conference calls with WL SPS.
      • Establish and maintain effective communication and cooperative working relationships with Fort Wayne administrators, faculty, staff,and WL EVPRP.
      • Supports internal grant programs and evaluate various faculty/administrative staff requests for research support. Make recommendations to the Office of Academic Affairs administration for same.
      • Supports special internal institutional opportunity grant programs.
      • Along with the Director, acts as liaison to Purdue University for internal grant programs available to Fort Wayne faculty and provides oversight to the Office of Academic Affairs research staff for managing the internal programs e.g. summer grant programs, student support programs, and other internal programs as needed.
      • Compile statistical reports and other data for reports to the university administration as requested.
      • Monitor the Fort Wayne campus research websites for accuracy and timeliness of information, deadlines, etc.
      • Participate in professional conferences or meetings and identify professional development for staff.
      • Serve on appropriate Fort Wayne committees as required.
