Senior Accountant
Location: Fort Wayne, In USA
Pay: $57,750 - $75,755
Shift: Monday - Friday 8a-5p
Job Summary; The Senior Accountant supports the Network Controller and is responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting that is in compliance with accounting standards and federal and state regulations. The Senior Accountant performs a variety of tasks including preparing financial statements, assisting in the budget process, maintaining the general ledger, and communicating with the outside parties for various required audits. The incumbent is responsible for weekly cash projection to assist the Network Controller in decision making. Incumbent assists in the month end and year end closing, including account analysis and reconciliation. Establishes and maintains internal controls to prevent financial statement inaccuracies. Ensures accurate and timely monthly reports to provide in the presentation to the Board of Operations and Finance and Outcomes Committee. The Senior Accountant works closely with the Network Controller on higher level department projects, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
· Responsible for timely and accurate generation of monthly internal financial statements as directed by Network Controller
· Assists in month end and year end closing including account analysis and reconciliation
· Establishes and maintains internal controls to prevent financial statement inaccuracies
· Ensures accurate and timely reports to provide in the presentation to the Board Operations and Finance and Outcomes Committee.
· Assists Network Controller in the preparation of organization of budgets and reports according to established deadlines and requirements
· Prepares account and program analysis as requested by the Network Controller
· Communicates with other department directors/managers on information requests and internal control issues as they arise
· Oversees preparation of group home cost reports
· Liaison on financial audits; prepares documentation for external auditors
· Responsible for weekly cash flow projection and assists the Network Controller in decision making
· Calculate and ensure payment of HSA and 401K employer contributions
· Reconciles accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
· Responsible maintaining department variable and fixed allocation of expenses.
· May provide supervisory duties as the department grows.
· Assists Network Controller in completing other projects as assigned
Qualifications
· Must be 18 years of age
· Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or in a related field with a concentration in Accounting required. CPA preferred
· Minimum of 7 years direct experience in General Ledger Accounting required
· Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures and their practical application in real situations
· Knowledge and experience in business processes and systems with the ability to identify problems and apply the appropriate decision process to arrive at a solution
· Understanding and proficiency in working with computer systems and operations. Experience in computerized integrated accounting systems required with experience in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word strongly preferred
· Knowledge of procurement, implementation, and utilization of integrated computer accounting software in a multi-user environment
· Systems orientation—ability to improve processes, both computer based and procedure based
· Ability to communicate effectively in order to complete required forms, reports and reporting
· Must have the ability to perform light to moderate lifting when necessary
· Possession of valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record
· Attend required annual training

Work Environment/Conditions
Senior Accountant performs duties in a standard office environment frequently using a computer. Employee works with some supervision, both alone and with others in a team environment. Work may require light lifting when needed.
