Job Description

- Assist with the annual financial audit by providing subject matter expert support for responsible topics. Work with the Controller to prepare schedules and manage audit functions during the year and throughout the actual audit.
- Monitor daily cash flows and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Determine the proper handling of financial transactions by approving entries within designated limits and seeking approval from appropriate leadership on transactions outside of established limits.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for contract management including collecting and inventorying all contractual agreements. Identify and catalog contract owners, expiration dates and relevant contract information. Identify renewal terms and required action dates. Work with contract owners during the renewal process to verify need, help identify alternatives, prepare RFP’s and execute agreed upon course of action.
- Work with vendors to optimize terms and enforce agreements. Assist stakeholders in vendor selection.
- Responsible for supporting and offering direction when required to the Mailroom and Procurement Coordinator.
- Provide indirect support and backup duties to other accounting functions as assigned.
- Maintain approved spending authorization and delegation of authority policies.
- Monitors company compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures and recommends procedure changes when findings indicate the College is not compliant.
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Identify, initiate, implement and follow-up on process and system improvements to maximize utilization of staff and IT infrastructure. Responsible for keeping the Microsoft Dynamics GP and related accounting systems up to date and operating efficiently. Identify integration opportunities, develop, and implement agreed upon solutions.
- Demonstrates experience in defining business requirements and management systems and methodologies.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential when appropriate.
- Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
- Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
- Strategically and proactively evaluates internal controls, makes suggestions for improvement in processes and procedures and implements improvements as needed.
- Provide customer support to students, faculty, and other staff as related to accounting questions and concerns.
- Assist with other Accounting projects and audits as directed by the Controller.
- Dynamics GP Auxiliary Power User
- Responsible for partnering with the Power User Lead in defining application requirements and use cases, testing application functionality, educating, and training end-users, and identifying application enhancements that add value to Dunwoody.
- Maintain in-depth departmental process/application expertise and work to effectively communicate with the Power User Lead and departmental team members.
- Act as a primary point of contact between Power User Lead and department members to provide feedback and promote continuous improvement.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Five years of related Accounting experience and/or training.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures and ability to apply them to accounting records and reports.
- Strong numerical reasoning and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP accounting software a plus.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/other projections.
- Strong PC skills with Microsoft Office suite programs and database management skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills required.
- Qualified candidate must be proactive, self-managing, engaged, motivated, act with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures to analyze financial information and prepare reports. Ensures accuracy of accounting books and researches and corrects discrepancies. Responsible for participating in all the processes and procedures required of the monthly accounting cycle, including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and respective support documentation and preparing and/or reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations. This position performs professional level duties involving a variety of key accounting activities, such as analyzing and reconciling complex financial transactions, maintaining the accuracy of Dunwoody’s ledgers and subsidiary financial systems, maintaining accuracy of accounting for daily cash transactions, preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and reports, and ensuring that the proper internal controls are in place.
