  Suncoast Hospice of Hillsborough, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a bilingual Senior Staff Nurse (Spanish/English) with experience in Home Care Home Base to join our team.

  This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Brandon Area. Some travel required.

  The Senior Staff Nurse:

  • Provides support and leadership in coordinating team functions in collaboration with and support of the Care Team Manager, including Quality Assessment Performance improvements, supervisory visits and other activities as appropriate.
  • An active, formal mentor and first line resource to the Nursing staff and a direct supervisor to the Hospice Aide staff on the Team, providing teaching, support and guidance.
  • Utilizes assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit.
  • Responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for guiding staff to provide preventative and supportive care to terminally ill patients/families.

  Position Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensure:

  o Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse

  o Valid Florida State Driver’s License

  • Continuing education: As required for licensure
  • Certifications:

  o Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

  o Current IV Therapy certification preferred. Must obtain the certification within six months of hire date.

  • Strong preference for at least one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Strong preference for minimum of two (2) years Hospice experience.
  • For field-based positions, employees must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
