      Staff, Software Engineer (L2 protocols)

      Develop, Innovate and Maintain control plane software for Layer 2 technologies.

      Responsibilities:

      • Carry out requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing and maintenance of software modules
      • Participate and contribute to design and functional specification reviews
      • Contribute to the areas of performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability of features
      • Design, document, and execute unit test cases and integration test cases of new features and automate unit testing.
      • Work with teams across geographical locations. Work collaboratively with cross functional teams and architects
      • Working closely with Juniper product development and business unit architecture teams to understand product/feature requirements and solutions in alignment with customer business/network priorities along with IETF/IEEE standards.
      • Build strong relationships with the senior leadership to understand the business objectives and translate into project deliverables.
      • Working on solving customer issues from the field and support in replicating customer found issues and provide root-cause corrective action.
      • Contribute on white papers / patents / IETFs on related technical areas.

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Requires a B.S. or M.S. or Phd in EE/CS with 12+ years of relevant Layer2/Layer3 networking work experience.
      • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
      • Excellent in C/C++ programming, data structures, debugging skills.
      • Familiarity with Python, Robot framework for unit/integration test automation
      • Familiarity with AI development tools, Prompt Engineering for Development and Automation
      • Must possess outstanding problem-solving skills in the diagnosis and resolution of customer issues.
      • The candidate must be a self-starter, proactive and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
      • Experience/knowledge in any of the following technologies is a plus

      • Layer 2 technologies : 802.1Q VLAN bridging, VPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, MC-LAG, OAM

      • Protocols like LLDP/LACP/STP/LFM/CFM/VRRP/ERP/MVRP/TCP/IPv4/IPv6/UDP/OSPF/BGP

      Candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, be highly self-motivated, and could work harmoniously in a team environment.

      Minimum Salary: $194,400.00

      Maximum Salary:$279,450.00

      The pay range for this position is expected to be between $194,400.00 and $279,450.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

      If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

      Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
