- Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Owners on to ensure the product meets user needs
- Design and develop software that enables surgeons to plan and perform surgical procedures
- Provide technical leadership for assigned software components
- Ensure performance across various target platforms (Desktop, Web, Tablet, AR Goggles)
- Work with usability engineers to provide surgeons and others with a performant, pleasing, intuitive and powerful user experience
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software lifecycle processes
- Grow the IP portfolio by developing inventions and patents
- Maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and ensure alignment with design controls
- Maintain outstanding communication, able to articulate complex technical ideas to a range of audiences and collaborate effectively across disciplines
- Work with surgeons and other engineers to develop innovations and prototype new ideas
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent in a related field (Software, Computer, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in other fields are acceptable, with additional years of experience
- 6+ years of experience of professional software development, or a combination of education and experience with a technical degree
- 8+ years of experience in professional software development, or a combination of education and experience with a non-technical degree
- Experience in the design and implementation of interactive 3D visualizations or games
- Experience with game engine collision detection & response mechanisms
- Experience with computer graphics and comfortable with its mathematics (linear algebra, matrix & vector math, trigonometry, etc.)
- Expertise with programming languages such as C# and C++
- Experience identifying and resolving engine constraints, and methods to optimize between performance needs and resource availability
- Understand the Unity or Unreal graphics engine architecture and its trade-offs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Background in medical device software (IEC 62304) or biomedical application development is a plus
- Experience working with surgeons or healthcare professionals is a plus
- Understanding Unity's nested prefab system to improve the reusability of assets is a plus
- Familiarity with common optimization techniques for Unity is a plus
- Working knowledge of low-latency multi-player game mechanics is a plus
Work Flexibility: Remote or Hybrid or OnsiteThis senior staff R&D role is for an experienced, hands-on engineer who is passionate about delivering technically rigorous software. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader in the development of surgical planning and guidance software.
This position will collaborate with surgeons and others to understand product needs, as well as with other technical leaders to define requirements, architecture, design, verification, and implementation strategies that meet the demanding needs of our customers. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about leveraging technology to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients.
This role will work on our orthopedic surgical planning and navigational platform that enables surgeons to understand a patient’s conditions, create a surgical plan, and perform the surgery with AR-based guidance.

Preferred Qualifications$109,500 - $232,900 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
