- Works closely with the Director of Research & senior staff to develop communications to support the Bank’s President as well as Senior Leadership, Board of Directors, and advisory councils, on Bank related matters for a range of audiences, including speeches, and public policy communications, including interview, broadcast media and Q/A primers.
- Maintains positive relationships with external stakeholders and seeks out and recommends public speaking platforms for the President to help advance the Bank's public policy positions and key strategic objectives.
- Provides strategic advice on media outlets and appearances and non-traditional venues and approaches to getting the Bank’s or the President’s message out to the public. Establishes and maintains relationships with broadcast and other media.
- Responsible for the development of a wide range of editorial projects for external and internal audiences including, talking points, white papers, opinion pieces, correspondence, and other similar communications on monetary policy and other Federal Reserve topics of importance to the Bank's President.
- Works with senior research staff to communicate technical research in a format that is accessible to wider audiences.
- Writes and edits op-eds, articles, and commentaries published under the President’s byline or that of Bank senior leadership related to monetary policy.
- Works with key senior leaders to gather and incorporate intelligence & stakeholder feedback into briefing materials for the President.
- Bachelors in related field.
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience.
- High-level experience in speech writing and editing executive-level economics/finance/business related communications in the public or private sectors.
- A general knowledge of economics, finance, and/or monetary policy.
- Demonstrated skills in speech and op-ed writing.
- Superior writing and editing abilities.
- Critical thinker capable of synthesizing complex ideas and putting together crisp, logical, and memorable arguments.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision and within specified deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal skills, oral and written communications, and an ability to translate research into language that the intelligent layperson can understand.
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged and sensitive materials.

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago The Senior Strategic Communication Advisor (& Senior Speechwriter) is responsible for conceptualizing, researching, and writing major speeches and other sensitive communications for the President and other top management. The incumbent manages key relationships internally and externally and will coordinate engagements that align with the Bank’s communications strategy. This position reports to the Executive Vice President who oversees the Office of the President. This individual works directly with the Bank's senior leaders, the Research and Public Affairs Departments and other subject matter experts. The level of work is considered expert and the individual works with minimal supervision. This position has no direct reports.Primary Responsibilities
