- Lead the design, development, and provide final escalation support for networking technology, including LAN/WAN (wired switches and routers), WLAN (wireless access points and controllers), network security (VPN, firewalls, and authentication systems), network support (DNS/DHCP, network management), and telephony (VoIP) services; specific duties will vary according to the life cycle and the technical complexity of the network and associated hardware and software.
- Extensive experience in network systems: LAN/WAN, Wireless, Voice, Security.
- Plan, design, configure, maintain, and manage enterprise network devices, traveling throughout the organization’s locations as necessary.
- Works independently with minimal supervision or with multiple individuals on IT related duties and projects.
- Serve as internal project manager for IT implementation projects.
- Manage and administer data center Windows server environment including VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines. Monitor and modify server resources as needed.
- Responds to server, network, and security incidents, requests for service, or resolution of operational issues.
- Monitor and analyze network activity to ensure optimal network usage, and performance; establish and operate network test facilities; test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
- Evaluate and select new technologies to optimize network and server capacity, efficiency, and performance.
- Facilitate work with clients, technical staff, and vendors on service request fulfillment, network or server implementation, optimization, and ongoing management.
- Troubleshoot system failures escalating to vendors as appropriate; act as final level of escalation for incident reports and works with the IT team members and other departments to resolve problems.
- Maintains records and databases on all hardware and software systems including software licensing, warranties, and service agreements. Develop and maintain documentation for network and server systems to be used by other IT staff.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation responding to customer requests for service.
- Create and maintain a disaster recovery and backup & restore plan for vital network components and data, implementing when necessary.
- Perform backups of network equipment configurations and server data. Manage the data replication to the disaster recovery site.
- Ensure the security of the organization’s network by implementing the policies and practices that prevent and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, or denial of service to a computer or other network-accessible resources.
- Serve as seasoned and highly proficient professional, technical mentor and advisor to the other IT staff.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
- Serves as backup for other IT team members including cross-training in their areas of expertise and performing their duties in their absence.
- Supports management by providing information about technical needs and services.
- Adheres to purchasing card procedures and submits expenditures for supervisor approval.
- Utilizes and promotes environmentally sustainable practices and processes in conjunction with the Sustainability Strategic Plan.
- Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.
- Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or another related program required. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience working with networking hardware and software including network design and implementation.
- Possess an advanced-level understanding of commonly used networking concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Experience implementing security/cybersecurity strategies.
- Excellent knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop OS, VMware, Active Directory, DNS, HPE equipment, Storage Area Networks, DAS, iSCSI and fiber channel; monitoring and backup software.
- Scripting experience with one of the following: PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python.
- Professional level (CCNP, CWNP; Cisco, Microsoft) or other industry certifications strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of PCI compliance preferred.
- Experience with M365 and Azure AD preferred.
- Master’s degree and two (2) years of advanced level experience working with networking hardware and software including network design and implementation preferred.

Join our team as a Senior Systems Engineer! At Great Parks, our team members work together to preserve and protect natural resources and to provide outdoor recreation and education in order to enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.
The successful candidate will be familiar with multidisciplinary systems and a network engineer with experience in mastering complex system architecture. Will be responsible for the plan, test, implement upgrades of servers, firewalls, switches, SANs, etc. Will look for gaps and weaknesses and ensure they are addressed. Will also do capacity management, performance tuning, maintenance, and optimization of IT infrastructure. Windows Server administration; VMware ESXi server environment, Cisco and Meraki, Active Directory. Ability to investigate, plan and implement future innovations of platform solutions. Employee is required to respond during off-duty hours on an on-call basis.
Lead the design, development, support, maintenance, monitoring, and implementation of the organization’s enterprise servers, storage, data, voice, and network infrastructure and wireless networks serving as a subject matter expert in at least two critical technology areas. Provide final escalation incident support, fulfill advanced customer requests in their subject area, research new technologies, develop solutions for network expansion and growth, lead the deployment of network and IT infrastructure hardware and configuration as part of the department’s ongoing initiatives, and work with management to form strategies for the introduction of new and improved technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
EMPLOYMENT RELATED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to submit a fingerprint check to successfully pass a criminal background check through the FBI and the Ohio BCI.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
LICENSE OF CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines.
Typical starting salary range for the position will be $84,240.00 - $110,00.00 annually depending on experience.
