      SUMMARY
      • Senior Systems Engineer opening in Irvine, CA with a stable, global enterprise (onsite position)
      • On call rotation once every 5 weeks
      • No travel
      RESPONSIBILITIES

      Systems Support and Administration - 65%
      • Provide Infrastructure services in all areas needed: storage networking, Operating System, directory services, server virtualization, system backup and restore, system monitoring/alerting and response, server builds, application installation and configuration
      • Level 2 and Level 3 Support for problems identified with systems. Will act as an escalation for Level 1 and Level 2 Managed Services support technicians
      • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues. Identify and help implement prevention measures. Follow Severity 1/outage procedures and processes.
      • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as scheduled.
      • Perform database monitoring, backup/restore and general administration activities.
      • Manage ProofPoint email security gateway, anti-virus and anti-spam software. 65%
      • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to server equipment, and configuration(s).
      • Follow and help maintain formal procedures and policies related to server operating patching, system security, database integrity, performance monitoring and system changes.
      Technology Projects - 35%
      • Evaluate current systems in area of specialty to identify areas for improvement or new direction and provide as input into future systems strategies.
      • Evaluate new technologies in area of specialty and provide input into future systems strategies.
      • Influence and contribute to detailed designs, functional and technical, for all projects.
      • Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for purchasing of new servers and server equipment via quote procedure
      • Work closely with IT staff to clearly define issues and/or requirements that result in modifications to any of the systems, hardware or OS in area of specialty.
      • Provide expert advice, training and project management and technical support for various projects in area of specialty.
      Additional Responsibilities - 10%
      • Accountable for properly following all IT standards, processes and methodologies as applicable including but not limited to Quality Assurance (QA), Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC).
      • Other responsibilities and accountabilities may be assigned based on business and organization needs.
      • Effectively transition senior level knowledge to other members of the team to help grow the organization as a whole.
      • Train and mentor other team members in team standards, processes and methodologies.
      • Accountable for hardware and software license management, upgrades and warranty in area of specialty.

      REQUIREMENTS
      8+ years of experience with design, implementation, engineering, administration and support of:
      1. Windows Server Operating Systems
      2. Active directory
      3. MS Exchange
      4. VMWare and/or Hyper-V NAS/SAN administration
      Nice to have experience:
      1. Bachelor's Degree in a related IT field
      2. ITIL
      3. Powershell or other scripting experience
      4. SAN administration
      5. Disaster recovery
      6. Data center infrastructure
      7. Networking experience
      8. SQL Server
