Position Summary AutoZone is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer (Mainframe Application Developer) who will deliver desired, sustainable business outcomes and assure the integrity and continuity of our systems. This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of AutoZone's mainframe applications. This includes applying domain knowledge, using technical skills, mentoring less experienced AutoZoners, supporting the customers, resolving problems, and training as required. A strong candidate will rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure and implement scalable solutions while managing multiple customer groups. Key Responsibilities Participate in any and potentially all roles of the system’s development life cycle. Roles may vary by project and assignment. This may include, but not limited to: Develop, plan and/or maintain software applications and/or subsystems; debug, design, code, test, write specifications, roll-out software, and production support. Identify and eliminate manual and/or inefficient processes through the implementation of innovative technology solutions. Participate in 24x7 on call rotation with assigned team; resolve production issues, determine root cause and address recurring issues with permanent solutions. Create and maintain documentation of the assigned applications. Accurate work planning and execution; accurate project and time tracking. Responsible for the development of less experienced AutoZoners; mentor and teach. Determine order of work and develop the framework for a subsystem. Delegate work to other Systems Engineers and Associate Systems Engineer Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field required. Require excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Experience in the Retail Industry developing and maintaining Merchandising, Supply Chain or Financial applications required. Requires 12 to 14 years of experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities. Technical skills must include experience with one or more of: CICS, COBOL II, JCL, VSAM, DB2, SQL, SyncSort Solid problem solving, domain technical and analytical skills. Solid expertise in at least one technical area. Advanced task estimation and planning skills. Ability to perform tasks with little or no technical supervision. Our Values An AutoZoner Always...
