      Job Summary

      As a Senior Systems Support Technologist you will be supporting our International Clients with both new and existing electronic systems. You can look forward to providing implementation, configuration specification, installation support, administration and troubleshooting for systems such as, but not limited to, those utilized in support of Air Traffic Management Service. With such a client focus someone with a passion for collaboration and relationship building will excel in this role where they can develop connections with both internal and external stakeholders.

      Key Accountabilities:

      Provides support and administration by:

      • Work closely with developers, testers, and Engineers, working in an Agile software development environment.
      • Ensuring project activities are conducted in a timely manner and following established processes.
      • Provides prompt assistance when requested to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems.
      • Investigates solutions for end-of-life components.
      • Conducting field trials of hardware and software upgrades prior to release.
      • Analyzing, recommending and implementing modifications, policies and procedures on system and network administration.
      • Performing network troubleshooting and upgrades.
      • Analyzing system architecture and system interface changes for assigned systems.
      • Developing, testing, documenting, and implementing test protocols for FAT and SAT activities.
      • Participating in system reviews and task analysis.
      • Leading or participating on-site system installation.
      • Leading or participating in training session following installation of new systems.
      • Keeps abreast of technological developments.
      • Participate/lead Safety Management Activities.

      Education/Occupational Certification:

      • Successful completion of secondary school and completion of a full time post-secondary diploma in electronics technology at a recognized institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience

      Experience:

      • 3-5 years’ experience in installation, configuration administration and supporting of Linux and/or Microsoft Windows Operating Systems as well as server and workstations applications.
      • Experience in the development, modification of installation and user documentation for new or existing systems including testing and verification.
      • Experience in the life cycle support of deployed safety critical systems including the application of maintenance policies and practices.
      • Experience in the coordination of small to medium sized projects and external customer interaction.
      • Experience working with International Clients within the (Air traffic management) ATM Systems architecture.

      Knowledge: (Weighting 25%)

      • Knowledge of techniques and best practices to maintain and verify mission critical electronic equipment and systems.
      • Knowledge of failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMECA).
      • In-depth knowledge of network, data center, cloud services troubleshooting techniques and maintenance best practices.
      • Knowledge of industry best practices for Cyber Security and System Hardening.
      • Knowledge of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Policies, Engineering Quality Management and Improvement System (EQMIS), Cybersecurity Policies and the associated tools.
      • In-depth knowledge of business planning to develop timelines and procedures for installation and maintenance of systems.
      • In-depth knowledge of various hardware interface protocol and standards and of various communication protocol and standards.

      Abilities: (Weighting 30%)

      • Advanced analytical skills to (1) interpret or analyze information, reports and data; (2) participate in system reviews and task analysis to revise the maintenance and repair philosophy, and training requirements; and (3) investigate and analyze hardware problems to develop, test and implement modifications.
      • Excellent presentation skills.
      • Proficient technical writing, design & drafting skills.
      • Proven communication skills to both communicate with external and internal stakeholders.
      • Sound business acumen comprehending business operations and insight as to how to achieve goals and ensure business success.

      Working conditions:

      • This position is based at NAV CANADA’s TSC (280 Hunt Club, Ottawa) but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
      • International travel (approximatively 1-2 times a year) is required in this position.
