      The investment consulting division of Willis Towers Watson, a leading global professional services company, requires a technical resource to provide comprehensive support for lead investment consultants in the Cape Town office. The candidate will also be responsible for interacting with the data source providers to the business and with client representatives, via telephonic and email communication, and may be required to attend some client meetings. The candidate should be capable of learning new systems and processes, e.g. efficient checking systems, verification of reports, charts and fact sheets. There will be some opportunity for involvement in actuarial work and general benefit consulting, for candidates with an actuarial background or who want to broaden their experience beyond investment advisory work.

      The Role

      • Liaise with data providers (investment managers, custodians etc.) to obtain client data and other relevant information
      • Assist with clients’ contracting with investment providers (e.g. obtaining and completing documentation) and with clients’ investment transitions
      • Preparation or checking of monthly or quarterly investment reports, unitization calculations, and other appropriate investment calculations
      • Preparation and submission of SARB and FSCA (Regulation 28) returns as required
      • Assist with formulation and delivery of strategy advice to clients (institutional investors) – this is likely to include some direct client interaction
      • Depending on experience and qualifications, play a suitable role in providing support for actuarial and benefit consulting services, e.g. retirement fund valuations and ad-hoc advisory projects

      Qualifications

      The Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree with actuarial or any other financial/ mathematical specialisation
      • Ideally 5+ years of relevant pensions related experience, although strong candidates with less experience may be considered
      • Strong oral and written communication skills in English (note that some client interaction will be required)
      • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
      • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
      • Ability to work both independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
      • Ability to manage several different projects concurrently and deliver on all of them
      • Advanced experience with the MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook (Access would be an advantage)
      • Conscientious and detail focused
