Senior Transport Engineer, Road Safety (Whangārei)

Grow your career, playing a key role in supporting the delivery of strategic Transport Engineering, Planning and Safety projects, improving safety and network operations across Northland and throughout New Zealand. You will be making a genuine impact for communities through improving the safety of our transport and roading network.
You will be joining a nation-wide team with an enviable track record, known by our clients for delivering key strategic transport projects. We lead projects of all sizes for a diverse group of clients and work as an integrated team of over 80 Transport Planners, engineers, traffic modellers and technical experts operating from Beca locations throughout New Zealand. You will have the opportunity support the delivery of key national safety programs with Waka Kotahi, as well as working with local clients such as Northland Transportation Alliance and surrounding local authorities to understand the impact of transport on their network. You will be working on a broad range of projects including ongoing traffic engineering, the Safety Programme, Speed and Infrastructure Programme, and continuing services contracts.
Based in Whangārei, you will be part of a local and growing team of over 20 people from a wide range of engineering disciplines with a strong regional office culture. You will also have the benefit and scope of being connected with a nationwide practice, working across our key offices throughout New Zealand.

Our Transport Advisory team come from a broad range of backgrounds and professions. You could have a background in project management, geography, economics, as well as the more traditional engineering backgrounds.
You will be a people person able to work with very different viewpoints. You will enjoy the challenge of working collaboratively with stakeholders, with the ability to guide discussions to enable project delivery. You will be calm, comfortable with ambiguity and differences, yet excited by the role you will play in working with people to shape communities through Transport Engineering projects. You will be an excellent communicator, both in person and via written reports with a general understanding of the district plan and how local government operates.
