Old Mutual is looking for a Senior User Interface Designer to play a Front-end Design, Creative direction and Componentisation Role in our Smart Goals Experience & Rewards Digital Strategy program which seeks to provide our customers with best-in-class digital experience making Customer’s 1st Choice in tracking & managing and attaining their Financial goals. As the Senior UI Designer, your goal will be to gain a deep understanding of the Financial goals and Rewards ecosystem as well as the Old Mutual Visual language and use that to drive Visually aligned and aesthetically elevated, human-centred Designs for the Smart Goals Native App, Web platform, relevant digital comms, and Rewards capability. Although your focus will be on the visual treatment and micro-interaction design, the ideal candidate is one who understands how engagement and native app design, across all channels (incl. outbound communications), can be leveraged for a User & Service experience that attains customer and business outcomes through great UI and UX.As the Smart Goals & Rewards UI Designer, you will lead our efforts in:
Creative direction of the Smart Goals experience (working with Design and Brand teams)
Leveraging and Extending the Old Mutual Design system in Figma
Componentisation, Templatisation & documentation
Alignment of visual & interaction language with other Digital platforms
Creating user testing prototypes and experimentation (A/B, Multi-variet testing) artefacts · Differentiating this Smart Goals platform in the market
Collaborate with :
Users (Customers and intermediaries)
The product Manager & Owner · Platform Partners
Tech & Engineering
Design Chapter Leads(UX, UI, SD, Quant & Qual Research ) and broader Design community
Personalisation team
Role Description & Key Result Areas:
Introducing and applying expert art direction to the visual design across digital projects
Ensuring a high standard of visual execution across all digital touch points
Reviewing the work of UI Designers across and providing direction and feedback
Manage and plan the User Interface Design activities on digital product development and continuous improvement initiatives in the Digital Financial Services space
Ensure collaboration and alignment with all associated disciplines of Feature, Content, UX and Design thinking in the various phases of the digital product development
Drive the use of knowledge management and collaboration platform(s) for Design processes, tools and artefacts
Drive the re-use of components and broader design system · Ensure adherence to design system and standards Technical Expertise
Create, improve and define creative direction through use of mood boards, prototypes, style guides, user flows
Atomic design & Design Systems · Componentisation, Templatisation & documentation
Present and defend decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.) Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industry’s standard · Understanding of basic front-end languages
Solid Understanding of Visual Design principles
Agile and lean UX · Run Ideation, Co-creation, Rapid-prototyping sessions · Actively contribute to the Old Mutual design system, frameworks and UCD artefacts · Ensures creation of interactive high-fidelity prototypes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of digital products where applicable or feasible
Collaborate with on high-quality visual and interaction design and front-end development to generate engaging and enriched UI design, in line with UX prototypes and design strategies
Drive on-project/in-delivery adoption of reusable design systems that allow for consistency, embedded quality and design efficiency within the digital products
Collaborate with other design & technology teams to fully leverage technology capabilities while supporting continuous delivery. Business Acumen
Use systems thinking to address problems and questions at scale
Plans and scopes design execution that will improve product and service experience outcomes at scale
Creates, analyses & manages work that provide direct business impact
Demonstrates some knowledge of how industry trends & competitive landscape impact Old Mutual Digital
Sees cross platforms patterns to help drive a Omnichannel Experience for Old Mutual Customers
Hands-on experience mapping & creating Storytelling artefacts Management Effectiveness
Develops peers and possibly direct reports through mentoring and coaching
Drives operational excellence through area of supervision
Leads service delivery
Contributes towards operational capability enhancement (people, process and technology) for experience design - facilitates feedback loop between execution and capability
Manages supplier relationships in delivery
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience :
Matric
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience using tools such as Figma
A minimum of 5 years of professional UX design experience, with deep knowledge and skills in generating digital interface outcomes
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in people and team management
Proficiency in Figma is a must
Experience in Financial Industry Digital and Ecommerce
Exposure to Design Systems and Design Leadership
Demonstrated strong understanding of Agile and Lean UX methodologies Experience & Proficiency in User Research & Testing
