Contribute to the delivery of the annual business plan for the respective business unit
Perform complex underwriting activities in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Utilise product line expertise to analyse business prospects and recommend profitable risk selection
Manage key portfolios/accounts with intermediaries
Establish, strengthen, and develop relationships with stakeholders to maximise influence and achieve business objectives
Lead profitability and process improvement initiatives by informing senior leaders on best practices and guiding strategic plans
Actively manage your portfolio and relationships with brokers and colleagues to achieve portfolio retention, growth and profitability targets
Coach and mentor Underwriters & Assistant Underwriters as required and supervise work to ensure procedures and authorities are adhered to
Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
Broad understanding of Motor specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledge
Flexibility to work across a changing portfolio
Strong/ customer/broker relationship skills and focus
Proven knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolio
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter to join the Motor Fleet Underwriting Team in Brisbane. As a Senior Underwriter your roles involves underwriting complex new businesses, and offering specialist advice. Your role will involve building and maintaining broker relationships, contributing to business results and staying informed about industry standards and new product introductions.
