      This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will serve as the principal subject matter expert on DoD editorial policies and practices for writers and editors in DMA. Edits content for defense.gov including articles, social media posts and photo captions.

      • Position requires working overtime and/or being on-call on evenings, weekends, and federal holidays on a rotating schedule with other editors.

      Qualifications


      You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

      One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
      • Serving as the subject matter expert on editorial policies and practices in an organization.
      • Providing on the job training for editors.
      • Editing news and feature content rapidly under deadline.
      • Identifying writing issues in drafts and providing editorial solutions and feedback to authors.
      • Applying knowledge of current events and organization initiatives to support editing comprehensive multimedia materials to produce factual products that are clear and useful to a diverse audience.
      Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
