Job Description

- Manages warehouse operations including receiving, shipping, inventory, and warehousing to assure company objectives in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, customer service, cost and profitability
- Directs and manages shipping and/or receiving orders, including loading trucks, inspecting materials or product, and reconciling advanced shipping notices and bills of materials to assure accuracy
- Manages dock traffic and ensures that all logistics suppliers follow appropriate policies and procedures
- Maintains month-to-month inventory of work-in-process product and finished goods
- Manages inventory of shipping materials and supplies, including stretch film, poly bags, shrinks, glue and any consumable materials needed
- Directs and participates in cycle counts and physical inventory processes as required
- Coordinates with key stakeholders to meet internal and external customer on-time-delivery demands
- Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to support continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence
- Maintains adequate staffing levels to assure production requirements are met
- Accountable for departmental key performance metrics to ensure scorecard objectives are met
- Provides guidance on staffing, training, employee relations and performance management to develop and enhance the salaried and hourly shipping and receiving team, working closely with direct reports
- Maintains industry, professional and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications
- Oversight and enforcement of ORBIS Safety Programs.
- Daily review of production metrics and KPI’s (Labor expense, Forklift/Machine Repairs, Cost/Sort, Sorts/Hour).
- Provide leadership to employees by demonstrating ORBIS standards and expectations on an everyday basis.
- Direct continuous improvement to maximize efficiency and eliminate waste throughout facility.
- Establish and maintain professional relationship with local customer.
- Achieve budgeted financial goals for service center.
- Accurate inventory management.
- Resolve any quality problems/complaints
- Perform self-inspection on service centers relative to production and safety.
- Procure and maintain all needed operation and facility supplies (Forklifts, Washing Machines, etc).
- Interview and hire all service center employees.
- Ensure all employees are meeting job level expectations and requirements.
- Motivate and train employees to maintain succession plan for future growth/opportunities.
- Consistently enforce ORBIS polices through discipline action process.
- Facilitate payment of site invoices with Finance, including inputs, approvals, new vendor information.
- Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of strategies and tools for controlling and optimizing the factors that lie between the purchase of raw materials and delivery of finished products
- Ability to effectively manage the business relationship and transactions with the suppliers of raw materials or product components
- Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods
- Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle
- Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility
- Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.
- Superior leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage and develop a diverse team of people.
- Beginning financial knowledge sufficient to understand/manage financial budgets and statements.
- Understands LEAN Manufacturing practices and at least 1 year of experience of LEAN utilization.
- OSHA Regulation Training.
- Experience with Gas/Electric Forklifts.
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Bi-Lingual skills preferred (required for positions outside the US)
