!*!The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Certified Best Place for Working Parents, is seeking a Service Coordinator to work in the Employment Services department at the Lake Jackson Workforce Solutions Office located at 13625 Beechnut Street, Houston, TX. This position will serve as Service Coordinator under the direction of an Office Manager located at 3823 Cartwright Rd., Missouri City, TX.

The Service Coordinator performs routine to complex (journey-level) employment work. Work involves conducting interviews to assess client needs, disseminating information and facilitating access to workforce development programs, and providing employment counseling services. Works under moderate to general supervision with limited to moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
GENERAL DUTIES:
-Welcomes customers to Workforce Solutions, listens and makes determination as to the best way to service based on customer needs.
-Establishes a rapport with customers by demonstrating a friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor always.
-Engages customers and provides assistance to achieve the request.
-Maintains an awareness and knowledge of available resources, services, and events throughout the career office, system, and community and looks for opportunities to connect customers to them.
-Provides the service or assures customers understand the next steps in receiving services from Workforce Solutions or other community resources.
-Provides job search assistance utilizing the Work in Texas database and other search engines; refers customers to employment opportunities and provides information about community resources and records referrals properly.
-Provides professional resume, networking and interviewing guidance that is customized.
-Offers guidance and encouragement opportunities and provides information about community resources and records referrals properly.
-Facilitates Workforce Solutions seminars.
-Assists customers patiently with problems, complaints - remain courteous when dealing with difficult and angry customers.
-Support customers in using computers and other equipment in the resource area.
-Shares current local labor market information.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Someone that is computer literate and has sufficient skills to help customers use electronic resources.
Interviewing, counseling, and job placement experience desired.
-Good written and verbal communication skills desired.
-Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
-Has intermediate to advanced computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office; able to learn new software.
-Experience in a social service setting with working knowledge of employment related resources and planning techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
WDS II:Two years and six months of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing, or counseling; in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; in direct social work; in eligibility determination, or in workforce development issues and programs.
WDS III: Three years of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing, or counseling; in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; in direct social work; in eligibility determination; or in workforce development issues and programs.
Both Levels: Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.
Writing sample may be requested at interview.
Duty involves up to 10% travel within the state of Texas.
