Field Installation & Support Technician (Vehicle Systems)

Job Description
- Req#: 1F.65C
- Travel to customer locations across the U.S. and Canada to install Safe Fleet equipment, including: Main computing units and ECM Y-connectors, Touchscreen monitors and vehicle-mounted cameras, External sensors such as lift arm sensors, dual-position lift sensors, proximity sensors, and RFID readers
- Configure and verify new installations to ensure systems are online and functional
- Perform final commissioning and testing to confirm vehicles are “Ready for Dispatch”
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and system issues
- Replace or repair defective components, including reprogramming or re-imaging devices as needed
- Provide hands-on training to customers and technicians on system operation and maintenance
- Serve as a technical resource during and after installation
- Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the success of the Field Services team
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, IT, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in field service, technical support, or equipment installation
- Experience working with vehicle electronics, telematics, or fleet management systems is a plus
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Familiarity with networking, wiring, and system configuration
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and installation manuals
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%) across the U.S. and Canada
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions

JOB SUMMARY
As a Field Installation & Support Technician, you will play a critical role in deploying and supporting Safe Fleet technology solutions on customer vehicles. This hands-on position involves traveling to customer sites to install, configure, and troubleshoot a variety of hardware components, ensuring each system is fully operational and ready for use.
