Engage with Digital Solutions Enablers, Data & Insights Enablers and Data Domain Leads: Build strong relationships across the SHE functions to understand the data landscape and pipeline needs, translating those needs into technical solutions.
Data Pipeline Development: Develop, coordinate & collaborate with IT data engineers to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from various sources which will be the backbone of the SHE Data Domain
Data Management: Ensure data quality, accuracy, and availability by implementing data validation processes, monitoring data pipelines, and resolving any data-related issues promptly.
Data Standardisation & Insights Engineering: Partner with data science and insights teams to transform raw data into data products that provide actionable insights and inform business decisions.
Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest data engineering techniques, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SHE data pipelines and data management processes.
Education: Finished Bachelor's or Master's degree within 1 year in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in technical or leadership competencies are a plus.
Experience as a Data Engineer, with a proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions.
Understanding of Data Mesh architecture and principles is beneficial
Technical Skills:
Snowflake or similar cloud data platform experience
Proficiency in Python (Pandas preferred)
Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies and DataOps
Familiarity with Talend preferred
Docker experience beneficial
DBT experience beneficial
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies and best practices
Flexibility to work across time zones may be required.

The Position
As an intern your role will drive data engineering innovation to bridge the gap between business and IT teams to unlock SHE (Safety, Security, Health and Environmental Protection) data which drives high-impact decisions that enhance SHE outcomes and overall business performance.
This individual will engage with our Digital Solutions and Data and Insights Enablers to understand the data needs, translate those needs into technical requirements, and collaborate with IT to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and data solutions within the Roche Data Insights Technology Stack.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing and wrangling data to drive and improve business outcomes. The duration of the internship is 12 months, working on-site 2-3 days a week in Basel is expected.
