      About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.

      Duties


      • Basic working knowledge of the sheet metal trade.
      • Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
      • Ability to plan and the skill to manufacture and install items with predominately straight edges and regular curves.
      • Read and interpret instructions, blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
      • Learn and apply shop principles/practices and safety regulations to properly use common hand tools, grinding machines, and measuring devices/tools related to rotary wing aircraft maintenance programs.

      Requirements


      • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 1 background investigation.
      • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
      • Required to wear respiratory equipment.
      • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
      • May be subject to rotating shift work.

      WG-05: Ability to do the work of a Sheet Metal Worker Helper (Aircraft) without more than normal supervision. Have the reliability and dependability to assist with tasks as a Sheet Metal Worker Helper (Aircraft). Assist with Sheet Metal work by getting tools and supplies, carrying materials, and lifting and holding materials in place during operations; Use common hand tools and keep work area clean and orderly. Working under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
      • Physical Efforts - Work requires moderate to strenuous effort. The work involves physical exertion, prolonged standing, climbing, working in cramped or awkward positions, reaching, lifting, and bending. May frequently lift items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and when heavy lifting is in excess of 35 pounds is require the employee will obtain assistance of others or use mechanical handling equipment.
      • Working Conditions - Works inside (occasionally outside) in noisy surroundings. Exposed to hazard of injury from cuts when working with sharp metal edges. Subject to all weather conditions. Danger of falling from overhead. Subject to skin rash in handling plastic resins and fiberglass materials, cuts, bruises, and burns. May be required to wear safety shoes, gloves, and ear protection. May be subject to shift work. May be required to work in cramped and confined spaces.
