      Associated Grocers of New England, Inc., is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale grocery Distribution Center In New England. Serving the needs of Independent Retail Grocers of every store size and format: multi-store independent supermarket groups, community supermarkets, country stores, and convenience retailers.

Then the Shelf Management Specialist job is for you! Our specialists work in the field with our grocery stores to support store personnel with SKU assortment and retail shelf placement of grocery products.

      POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

      • Responsible for working as a team with another specialist to set up new stores or reset an existing store.
      • Ensures the layout/design of the stores meet prescribed requirements.
      • Directs the plans for equipment installation in order to meet store requirements.
      • Performs other duties as assigned or required. For example, if a center store shelf needs moved to find optimal placement, the person in this role would assist with the task.

      ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

      • 3 to 5 years experience in the retail food business including vendor brokerage or food distribution work.
      • Able to read and follow planograms for merchandising items at the retail shelf.
      • Experienced in merchandising product at the retail shelf including brand blocking, private label positioning and tag maintenance.
      • Experienced in product rotation based on date coding.
      • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
      • Strong customer service and communication skills.
      • Basic computer skills such as proficiency within Microsoft Office products.
      • Must have a valid state driver’s license.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

      • Works regularly in a grocery store setting
      • Able to assemble stanchions and gondola shelving to maximize merchandising of product
      • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds
      • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
      • Ability to reach, bend, kneel and crouch
      • Periodically required to travel including some overnight trips

      OTHER PERKS OF THE JOB:

      • Stay (when needed) to be provided if performing an overnight project occasionally.
      • Hours can be a little flexible depending on the projects.
