Business Overview / Job Purpose
To carry out duties to agreed level of performance and contribute to the continuous improvement of administration processes. To ensure that all risks are identified and assessed by using recognized, formal and structured processes. To facilitate effective risk management, implement risk reduction measures and establish a SHE and Quality plan to achieve targets and objectives within a specific time frame. Identify legal and other requirements and establish a system for early detection of non-compliance. Responsible for all SHEQ functions, checklists and audits for the DC. This is a busy, fast paced operation which offers many challenges and opportunities for the right person. This position is based at Ndlovu Park, Pietermaritzburg.
Role Outline
To ensure full compliance to the requirements of the OHSA
Assist with appointments of the Health & Safety Reps
Ongoing training and communication to facilitate a safe, hygienic and healthy work environment
General administration
Machinery and equipment
Occupational Health & hygiene, inclusive of the Battery Bay
Maintain the risk programme and fulfil requirements of the risk department
Responsible for auditing of all the functions to ensure that the requirements are constantly met at the highest standard
Co-ordinate functions and training with the group OHS Officer and the group Risk Manager
Conduct all SHEQ and Risk training that is required
Conduct monthly Safety Meetings
Assist Risk Management if and when required
Enforce compliance to statutory regulations
Induction and training of new employees
Promote a healthy and safe environment / culture
Day to Day Health & Safety issues – deliver toolbox talks
Monitoring of SHEQ stats
Recording of PPE issues and monitor their use
All incidents / accidents reported and recorded in accordance with the Company Policy & Legislation
Proactive identification of all risks and appropriate action implemented immediately – all relevant parties informed
Monthly KPI’s are met
Participation on stocktake preparation, planning and physical stock count
Adhere to the units SHE rules and best practices
Manage all legal files, inspections and preparations for site audits – external and internal
Ensure product safety, quality and integrity are not compromised – BRC standard
COVID 19 additional control measures {traceability} and reporting to DOL
Support OMS champion and Operations in managing SOP’s / WI’s and maintaining Document Control

Qualifications
Matric
2 – 3 years Logistics / Warehousing experience
2 – 3 years Health & Safety experience
Completed SAMTRAC qualification
Health & Safety qualification
