Support the assigned unit/division in its operations
Answer telephones
Proofread reports and flyers
Prepare correspondence and materials for meetings and presentations
Enter, analyze, and monitor data
Maintain office supply inventory
Scan and file documents
Develop and prepare forms, records, reports, spreadsheets, and schedules
Perform other duties as assigned
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
A high school diploma or equivalent educational certification is required .
Applicants should have the legal right to work in the United States.
Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation is necessary for employment.
Interns assigned to roles in the Crime Lab, Correctional Facilities, or working with youth will also need to secure a medical clearance.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the 2024 Sheriff's Summer Internship Program!The Sheriff’s Office is searching for up to 20 Summer Interns to perform a variety of administrative functions throughout multiple divisions of the office. The 2024 Summer Internship Program will run for 12 weeks from June 3 to August 23, 2024 .
Interns will work a maximum of 20 hours per week earning $19.94/hour. Work schedules will fall during the standard work week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is room for scheduling flexibility to be further discussed during the placement portion of the hiring process.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Candidates selected to fill these internship positions must submit to a thorough pre-employment background investigation prior to receiving a final offer of employment. This process is required of ALL new San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office employees and will involve being fingerprinted.

The examination process will include a panel interview with representatives from the Sheriff’s Office. Candidates who submit the required application materials and pass the initial round of application review will be invited to a department interview to be held in Redwood City, CA.
