  Summary:

  We are currently an Operations Supervisor at our finishing plant located in Vandergrift, PA. This position is responsible for leading a diverse, represented hourly workforce in day-to-day problem solving and troubleshooting efforts, as well as, interacting with all levels of management on a wide range of business issues.

  Essential Functions:

  • React to the breakdown needs of the shop with limited repair time.
  • Facilitate the installation of continuous improvement projects to reduce the overall cycle time of material flowing through the plant.
  • Implement mission critical maintenance to increase reliability while reducing quality cost associated with line stops.
  • Supervise work and provide technical assistance to respective hourly personnel in the organization unit operations adhering to safety and housekeeping controls.
  • Make modifications to all types of equipment based on reliability and production needs
  • Assure availability of operations equipment for on-time delivery. Assure correct operation of equipment for quality assurance.
  • Works closely with inside and outside support personnel for mill activity coordination.
  • Create cross training opportunities to enhance coverage and redundancy to mitigate unplanned vacancies
  • Monitor safety and housekeeping programs, maintain awareness to seek out potential safety hazards, and appropriate address safety issues

  Requirements

  Requirements:

  • Experience leading an hourly workforce
  • 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, including weekends.

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in technical or engineering required
  • 2+ years mechanical maintenance experience. Electrical experience is a plus.
  • Capable of identifying problems and offering solutions.

  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to learn and understand the intricacies of the rolling, annealing, and slitting processes and be able to capture and automate the learnings
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage priorities & work schedule to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively lead a diverse and represented hourly workforce
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organization skills
