Your Purpose
We’re now looking to recruit a Shift Manager to join our brilliant team at Burton Brewery.
The shift manager role is responsible for the execution of the production plans whilst ensuring safety and quality, they also lead the resolution of any barriers to realisation of these plans.
Through good people management processes, they drive capability, engagement, and performance of their teams.
Working closely with the line structure team and operations manager they drive the success of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management - Working at the Situational level to motivate the Team to safely achieve its targets. Develop morale in the Team. Recognize good performance and address performance gaps as they present themselves.
Address absence management and performance management issues with ER support. Ensure open communication and resolve conflict.
Planning and Control - Interpret production plan schedule requirements and organise and deploy people, plant, and material resources to execute the plan and hit all appropriate KPI's including all quality and DMS (Daily Management Systems) requirements.
Ensure all other aspects of team tasks are completed, ensuring all SOP, EH&S, and training, both on the job and compliance is resourced and a plan is in place to complete.
Monitor performance and progress against planned requirements and take corrective action when underperformance occurs.
Continuously ensure standard procedures are followed and that there is adherence to quality and Safety Health and Environmental Standards.
Focused Improvement - Coach team members to identify and spot defects, process fails and trigger points and take appropriate action. Then through situational problem solving (IPS and BDE) assist the team, and their direct support, in quickly rectifying problems.
Facilitate root cause analysis for persistent problems. Ensure base condition is maintained through rigorous execution of the Daily Management Systems and work with Line Structure teams to ensure these are as effective as possible.
Team Meetings and Communications - The Shift Manager needs to prepare and lead team meetings and shift DDS ensuring participation, contribution and feedback from all team members and support staff. The team leader should ensure clear actions are recorded and feedback given on management actions.
Develop Team Capability - The Shift Manager has enthusiasm and obvious energy for building the capability of the Team. Lead the team through defined phases of development and maturity. Identify capability needs of the Team members and Team overall. Through a system of planned quarterly 1 to 1s, training matrices, and Personal development plans, identify the training and coaching interventions that will successfully develop team performance and capability. Ensure 100% compliance for all other training allocated through the LMS system, ensuring the team has the resources and time to perform it.

Experience of World Class Supply Chain tools and techniques, specifically understanding and experience of problem-solving tools and methodologies and changeover time reduction.
