      Shift Supervisor - Restaurant

      Job Title: Shift Supervisor Restaurant

      FLSA Status: Non-exempt

      Hours: Part-Time (flexible schedule available; up to, but not guaranteed, 40 hours per week including weekends and holidays)

      Wage: $16.75/hour

      Summary:

      Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Shift Supervisor to utilize all resources and personnel so that the Treetops & Omaha Steaks Grill areas work at maximum efficiency. The Shift Supervisor must be available five days a week with a varied schedule. The Shift Supervisor reports to the Assistant Manager of the Treetops Restaurant.

      Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to) :

      • Oversee and assist with any and all duties assigned to the building or outlet.
      • Prepare cash in registers and buildings for opening each day.
      • Ensure all employees are in approved Zoo uniform with shirt tucked in and wearing name badge.
      • Supervise building crew on the following tasks: cleaning, cooking, breaks, employee scheduling, inventory, end of day closing and stocking.
      • Ensure proper food handling and proper food portioning is understood and followed.
      • Responsible for continuous on the job training and re-training staff.
      • Ensure first class customer service is being offered at all times.
      • Clearly communicate problems, ideas and situations to the Assistant Manager and/or Food & Beverage Manager.
      • Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed.
      • Uphold and adhere to all Zoo policies and procedures.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Job Requirements:

      • Must attend and pass State of Nebraska Health Department-Food Handling course offered at the Zoo.
      • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
      • Work a flexible work schedule with weekends and holidays required.
      • Ability to work well with other people and present a positive image and attitude.
      • Must have a high school diploma or GED
      • Possess good math and calculator skills
      • Ability to work well with guests that will reflect positively on the Zoo.
      • Ability to work with employees with a wide range of ages and experiences.
      • Detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills
      • Able to communicate clearly.

      Candidates might be required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and possess a valid drivers license with a good history.

      Experience:

      • Prior supervisory experience is helpful.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

      Work Environment:

      Work is performed indoors and outdoors depending on outlet. Depending on the location, employee must adapt to warmer temps due to certain equipment such as grills and fryers. Must wear closed toe shoes. While in performance of job duties, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, signal and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stop; kneel; crouch and/or crawl; talk and hear and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds using safe and proper methods.
