      The Shipping / Logistics Planner will be integrally involved in the daily shipping & logistics activities for Electric Boat Corporation which include, but are not limited to, the support of Electric Boat’s Maintenance and Modernization Programs, Newport News Shipbuilding Teaming Agreements, shipyard trade requests, UK CMC program support, various ship-out work orders and special projects.

      The Shipping / Logistics Planner will need to exercise problem recognition and resolution skills, provide support for the Shipping Department activities, and will be required to interface with various levels of management and shipyard personnel in order to ensure work completion.

      Main duties:

      • Controlling work orders/packages (fixtures, consumables material, production material, etc.)
      • Assisting Operation Supervisors in identifying and prioritizing workable items
      • Reporting close-out/completion of jobs
      • Maintaining electronic work package status
      • Performing tactical problem solving
      • Coordinate with other Production and Planning organizations
      • Compliance with State Department Regulations regarding Import/Export compliance
      • Compliance with safety, quality, environmental, cost schedule and process improvement attributes are mandatory

      Responsibilities:

      • Track, collect and report work orders and material status of ongoing work scope
      • Ensure material is picked, issued and/or returned correctly within MRP/EWP to support fabrication and work order closure
      • Control work orders/packages to include consumable material, production material
      • Work closely with program office and operations for kit turnovers

      This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated shipping and receiving and/or logistics experience
      • A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated production planning experience
      • Must be able to travel, as required. This position will require business travel as necessary to support program efforts at other vendor locations. This position may at times be stationed in Seekonk, MA
      • Must be able to work all shifts
      • Applicant should be a demonstrated self-starter with aptitude and willingness to learn our business systems
      • Must be able to read and understand various technical documents and disclosures
      • Candidate must be capable and willing to obtain off-site training for Title CFR transportation regulations relative to the shipment of Hazardous Materials over the road and by air (IATA)
      • Must obtain and maintain certification for the transport of Hazardous Materials in accordance with Dept. of Transportation and International Civil Aviation Organization Regulations
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel

      Preferred:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
      • 4 plus years of demonstrated shipping and receiving and/or logistics experience
      • Experience with Fed-EXShip Manager kiosk software
      • Experience with PROC/D, Electronic Desktop - Production Environment, & MRPII
      • Experience & working knowledge of Electronic Desktop - Production Environment and work order maintenance is preferred
      • Shipyard experience
