- Work with the VP, Shorts Programming to define and delineate programmatic initiatives and strategy for shorts programming year-round.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of up-and-coming shorts filmmakers.
- Work closely with shorts filmmakers and their teams and can articulate clear vision and strategy.
- Meet and correspond with potential and existing filmmakers to establish trusted relationships.
- Maintain strong relationships with producers, filmmakers, and other creatives while constantly developing new contacts to expand Tribeca’s talent pool.
- Travel to screen films and to meet sales agents and filmmakers
- Engage cultural and arts organizations and build relationships for potential filmmaker support.
- Supporting sponsorship with programming needs. Matching sponsors to short films, and VIP individuals to films.
- Maintain and circulate a document of films with invitations to other festivals to track Tribeca Festival eligibility and premiere strength.
- Provide representation at industry events where new filmmakers are debuting and be available to speak at or judge films at these events when appropriate.
- Oversee with VP, Shorts Programming the curation of panels and advise panels manager on topics and new ideas to bring to the table.
- Booking films with filmmakers, producers, producers reps, agents, distributors, writing long and short description for catalogue.
- Developing a working knowledge of the festival database, imputing film information, assigning films to the shorts screening team and exporting reports.
- Overseeing, managing and communicating with the seasonal shorts screening team, consulting on new hiring recommendations and screening assignments
- Involvement in Tribeca Festival events, including introducing films, participating in Q&A’s, attending talks and industry events.
- 3-5 years in film industry, preferably programming shorts films for film festivals.
- Familiarity with Tribeca's Shorts Programming.
- Extensive industry relationships including with distributors, sales agents, producers, and directors.
- Ability to communicate clearly and constantly with teams via Slack and other collaboration tools.
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects.
- Ability to adapt quickly, build relationships, and engage people.
- Ability to organize among competing deliverables in a deadline driven industry with a professional demeanor.
- This is a hybrid position, and will require the selected candidate to work in-person at our Tribeca office a minimum of three (3) days a week.
ROLE DURATION: SEPTEMBER 2023 – JULY 2024
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the VP, Shorts Programming, this role will be part of our Programming team for the upcoming 2024 Tribeca Festival. The role with require attending weekly meetings, assisting in festival coverage, and screening short films for all Tribeca events. This position will be instrumental in developing shorts programing focused on garnering public excitement and industry interest. This position will also be vital in pairing shorts films with relevant Festival programs, including live music, audio storytelling, and games & immersive storytelling.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the shorts film industry, especially in programming film festivals focused on highlighting shorts films. This will be someone eager to identify exciting new creators and experiences, with an eye for commercial viability.
