Job Description

- Build a grateful patient pipeline and partner with Development team for prospect strategy and implementation
- Review daily in-patient prospect lists with Director of Signature Services
- Provide gift officers with leads and assessments of prospects
- Visit highly-rated prospects
- When appropriate, introduce development officer
- Work with physicians and nurses to identify grateful patient families and generate referrals
- Maintain grateful family referrals and utilize the database to enter actions in a timely fashion and generate activity reports
- Meet HIPAA-compliant standards
- Provide services to patient families
- Assist with logistics of hospital stays and outpatient visits, provide general orientation to patient families regarding hospital resources
- Resolve patients' paperwork issues, act as personal healthcare resource advocate
- Communicate with staff daily to assist with any special needs they may know of from patients on their units and/or to let them know of any concerns the patient may have that they are unable to resolve
- Facilitate contacts and arrange appointments at other healthcare institutions as required
- Drive Signature Services program growth
- Help to establish processes to improve communication across multiple departments that impact Signature Services
- Make recommendations to the Director of Signature Services to enhance service quality, and monitor results
- Maintain relationships with external partners to drive referrals to the Signature Services program
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- At least three (3) years experience working in a medical/hospital environment with patient families, clinicians, staff and administration Required
- Understanding of fundraising and the culture of philanthropy
- Knowledge of pediatric hospital culture
- Work experience that demonstrates meaningful relationship-building
- Competence regarding legal and ethical issues related to patient data and HIPAA
- A highly disciplined disposition with proven ability to accomplish goals, meet deadlines and create outcomes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

A Brief Overview
The Signature Services Officer is a "face of the Foundation" to patient families and will foster greater understanding among CHOP patients and caregivers about the role of philanthropy in sustaining the Hospital. They will facilitate long-term relationships between patient families and The Children's Hospital by serving as a conduit. They will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and develop institutional credibility to create a meaningful hospital experience for patient families. The Signature Services Officer will work directly with Foundation colleagues to manage a portfolio of grateful patient families and develop strategies for moves management. They will play a pivotal role in identifying and qualifying prospective grateful families and provide introduction to Foundation staff members while ensuring complete confidentiality. This position reports to the Director of Signature Services and does not have direct fundraising expectations.
