      About us:

Do you have a passion for software and want to contribute to the understanding of critical Earth science? Then join our team in the Space Systems division of Airbus Defence and Space!

The Simulation and Modelling department designs and develops simulators and test benches that are used for satellite functional verification and in the assembly and test of spacecraft.

We support a variety of applications covering Telecommunications, Earth Observation & Science missions including ARIEL, that will contribute to the discovery and characterization of exoplanets and FORUM, which is part of the European Space Agency (ESA) Earth Explorer mission programme to enable more accurate tracking of key atmospheric components to improve the accuracy of Earth climate models.

      What you will be doing

All of our simulators mimic the functional behavior of a spacecraft, so that they are suitable for validating key elements of the complete system. The challenges lie in the design and concepts where innovation and an ability to think outside the box are a strong advantage.

The development of our simulators requires the use of a varied set of software programming languages and tools, and the main software language we use to develop our simulators is C++, which then runs on a Linux workstation. Therefore, you will learn and develop these key skills, also used within many industries.

You will also learn what it takes to write and maintain high quality, reliable software all the way from requirements definition through to software design, coding and test. You will learn software development methods and practices that will enable you to produce high quality solutions.

Finally, the projects you will work on will technically challenge you, as you will be contributing to engineering and science missions that have never been done before.

As part of this degree apprenticeship, you will be studying towards achieving a BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions (Software Engineer).
