Job summary
Due to expansion of the service an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Renal Dialysis team at Skipton Satellite Unit within the specialist medicine division. The unit will be open Monday - Saturday 07:00 to 22:45, and various shifts patterns are available between these hours to ensure safe staffing of the unit.
Our main haemodialysis unit is situated in Horton Wing at St Luke's Hospital and has underataken a major reconfiguration to provide additional side room capacity, Shared Care, and an in situ simulation training facility. Our Satellite haemodialysis unit at Skipton Hospital, 20 miles to the north of Bradford, has future plans for its relocation and expansion. We have a dedicated acute haemodialysis facility for inpatients at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) with plans for this to be expanded and to include a new isolation facility. Continuous renal replacement therapy is provided on the ICU at BRI, supervised jointly by the renal and intensive care teams.
We now have a dedicated renal ward at BRI and an adjacent home therapies area and a renal day case facility to support patient assessment, investigation and treatment.
We have established a Bradford Renal Hub in the local primary care electronic patient record system to improve two-way communication between our renal service staff and primary care teams.
We are looking for a proactive, and experienced nurse to work as part of the Renal Dialysis team at Skipton.
Main duties of the job
You need to be a dynamic and skilled individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to work as clinical Shift leader, and to provide visible nursing leadership and an effective and high quality patient focused service.
It is essential that you have a good understanding of the challenges and the skills required to support patients, families, carers and staff within renal dialysis environment. You must also demonstrate excellent organizational skills, an understanding of change management processes, and the ability to inspire, lead and develop a team. You must also demonstrate excellent clinical leadership skills, a strong team management approach and be open to developing and progressing new ideas and innovative ways of working.
You must be enthusiastic and passionate about delivering high standards of patient centered care and be a professional role model. You will be responsible for the immediate management of patients and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team ensure that patients receive optimum and high level nursing care.
The post holder will support the team with any research carried out and lead by example as an expert practitioner. You will conduct appraisals of team members with the support of the Unit manager, assist in the management of resources and contribute to the corporate agenda. You will be expected to promote a quality service using research and evidence based practice.
