- Perform required management responsibilities including but not limited to implementing the company policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring Service Engineer teams’ productivity and growth; managing oversight of site activities and resources; knowing Varian’s business; maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing the site Service team.
- Oversee and manage Service Engineer team in planning activities related to all phases of the project lifecycle like scheduling tasks based on priority, ensuring the appropriate resource assignments, ensuring the tools and parts needed are available and made ready, oversee and ensure forecasting of workloads and scheduling of shifts are effective, review procedures and technical documents, etc.
- Maintain a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to Varian Int. guidelines in order to ensure the safest working conditions.
- Select, develop, lead and evaluate personnel.
- Establish, implement and maintain all processes necessary to ensure all site operations are in compliance with the quality management system.
- Interface with a wide variety of cross functional departments to ensure all required resources for optimal site operations.
- Interface with customers to mitigate commercial and operational issues and to identify areas for improvement.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 8 years of related experience and 3 years management experience or supervisory equivalent.
- Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people effectively and to develop a motivated and prepared workforce.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Medical facility or industrial plant commissioning or service experience, radiation facility experience preferred.
- Experience planning, managing and optimizing maintenance and operations.
- Experience working in highly controlled environments.
- Program Management experience with inventory, service, and supplier management including experience in developing, implementing and utilizing related computerized management software systems.
- Technical Management experience or similar programmatic experience, including experience in managing and developing continuous engineering, tool/test equipment calibration, and technical documentation processes.
- Experience in service analytics reporting.
- High technical analysis and problem-solving skills/
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Customer focused and skilled in interfacing with customers.
- Skilled in conflict-resolution.
- Fluency in both Norwegian (Scandinavian) and English language (both written and spoken).
- Ability to create a collaborative, accountable, customer focused environment.
- Willingness and flexibility to work and/or be locally available for shifts/modified hours/weekends/holidays/on-call.
- Ability to work in a radiation-controlled environment.
- Ability to perform required physical tasks (bending, stretching, climbing ladders, moderate lifting, holding tools/test equipment for inspections.

Varian, a Siemens Healthineers Company, is delivering the latest generation proton therapy system for cancer treatment to Helse Bergen. The products are complex and Varian has a comprehensive support infrastructure to support our customers, including an on-site team tasked with operating and servicing the system.
The Site General Manager will lead the site team daily and be the first line contact to the customer for all Varian Proton Solutions (VPS) site related activities. Site General Manager is responsible for ensuring products perform per specification.
The Site General Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of pre- and post-sales services and support to clients/customers. He/She is Varian’s most senior representative on the site and has full accountability for delivering the contracted service to the applicable customer, the hiring and development of a team of up to five Service Engineers and the P&L of the contract.
The successful Site General Manager leads and motivates the team, has attention to detail and builds a strong and trust-based relationship with the customer.
Varian will provide extensive training on the proton therapy system, including on-site training at other Varian facilities world-wide.
