      Position Overview

      The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Technician 2 at Argyle Lake State Park. This position will cut and place forms for concrete, make minor plumbing and electrical repairs, replace roofing and siding on buildings, repair and maintain equipment, operate equipment such as front-end loader, tree spade, stump cutter, chipper, etc. Argyle Lake State Park has a full complement of recreational opportunities. Just 7 miles from Macomb, Argyle Lake also offers picnicking, camping, hiking and boating facilities in a scenic, natural setting. With its 93-acre lake for boating and fishing, 5 miles of rugged foot trails through luxuriant virgin forests and full-service campgrounds, this heavily wooded, 1,700-acre site is the ideal place to spend a day, a weekend or longer.       Essential Functions

      • Under direct supervision, carries out semi-skilled work and routine tasks in the operation, maintenance, and improvement of site grounds and facilities at Argyle Lake State Park and its satellites.
      • Maintains site vehicles and equipment.
      • Assists with building and grounds maintenance at the sites.
      • Assists in assuring the safety and security of the site and visiting public.
      • Perform routine task related to outdoor recreational programs.
      • Provides leadership and direction to seasonal employees, volunteers, and other staff.
      • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Two (2) years of working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing.
      • Two (2) years of experience in following written and oral instructions.
      • Two (2) years of experience in informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules and regulations.
      • One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation.
      • One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping.

      • Ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds.
      • Ability to walk over rough and broken terrain.
      • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.

      Mon-Fri 7:00AM - 3:00PM w/ 30 min. Lunch, April - Oct., Alternating Weekends. Thurs/Fri will be days off when working weekends.
