      Our Anti Fraud Team is looking for a SIU Major Case Investigator to provide timely intelligence and information to enable management to protect Aviva and consumers from Fraud and Financial Crime!

      What you'll do:

      • Act as Case Lead and conduct field investigations

      • Conduct investigative assistance/tasks as assigned

      • Establish investigation strategy, gather and analyze facts, handle case file, and ensure proper documentation and collection of physical or electronic evidence

      • Investigate by conducting in-person or telephone interviews

      • Establish appropriate scope and identify all leads

      • Assist stationary investigators with field investigation, as required

      • Determine when an investigation is ready for disposition

      • Prepare for, and participate in, Decision Panel meetings, including making recommendations on the disposition of the case

      • Build a defendable case

      • Prepare case brief for defending a case disposition or enabling internal or external prosecutions

      • Liaise with Fraud Management or other investigative team colleagues, and the Claim, Underwriting, and Legal operations

      • Evaluate evidence sufficiency on an ongoing basis until the validity of the issue(s) in question can be determined

      • Supervise investigations conducted by external experts

      • Lead complex investigations involving multiple investigators

      • Provide ongoing technical expertise for investigators, including coaching and mentoring on investigation techniques

      • Attend court as directed and prepare Aviva witnesses for court appearances

      What you'll bring:

      • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.

      • CIP designation or working towards CIP

      • Preferred professional qualification in fraud investigation, criminology or financial crime.

      • Minimum 6 years experience in an investigative field of work

      • Strong understanding of claims and underwriting processes

      • Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

      • Strong customer service and communication skills – ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately

      • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills

      • Assertive and comfortable with challenge and ambiguity

      • Investigative competency

      • Technical knowledge of all insurance lines of business, including policies, claims, and related legislation

      • Investigative strategies and requirements/legislation

      • Ability to make confident and objective decisions in matters having high potential for legal precedent or legal dispute

      • Valid driver’s licence

      • Mobility across Canada, as required

      • Provincial or territorial insurance licensing, as required

      • Ability to maintain confidential information
