  *The salary amounts provided represent the minimum and maximum ranges based on years of current agency service plus incentive structures at SCDC. It is important to note that not all individuals may qualify for the highest tier of base pay adjustments and incentives.
  
  
  • Inspect the exercise yard for contraband and ensure fences, braces and tie downs etc. are secured and intact.
  • Ensure all inmates scheduled for recreation periods have been strip searched before being removed from their cells.
  • Ensure all inmates have been placed in proper restraints and escorted as designated by their security detention level, prior to removal from their cells.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  SCDC Minimum Requirements:
  
  
  • Must have at least 12 months' experience in corrections, security, military or police work.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
  • Must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC.
  • Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first (6) six months of placement into the position.
