      Job Summary:

      The Snow Reporter provides essential snow and weather updates to Whitefish Mountain Resort's audience. This role involves gathering accurate snow statistics and creatively narrating the day’s conditions with humor and personality. Responsibilities include writing for web-based platforms, shooting and editing photos and videos, recording updates for snow phone and local radio, and contributing to social media. Snow Reporters are dedicated winter sports enthusiasts who love to share the joys of skiing and snowboarding.

      Job Specifications:

      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
      • Strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with AP style preferred.
      • Reliable all-weather transportation.
      • Ability to arrive by 5:30 a.m. on scheduled workdays, typically four days per week.
      • Advanced skiing or snowboarding skills.
      • Proficiency in photography, with experience in videography preferred.
      • Familiarity with Apple computers and photo/video editing software like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere.

      Specific Duties:

      • Collaborate with the Marketing Department, including the Public Relations Manager, Marketing Content Specialist, Creative Manager, and Creative Coordinator.
      • Arrive by 5:30 a.m. on scheduled workdays, typically four days per week.
      • Gather information from weather forecasts and resort staff to create informative and entertaining communications.
      • Record and update spoken snow reports for radio and snow phone at least twice daily.
      • Create written snow reports for skiwhitefish.com and other websites at least twice daily.
      • Capture and catalog photos and videos for marketing materials, social media, and other promotional uses.
      • Assist in editing videos for the resort’s YouTube channel and website.
      • Obtain and distribute B-roll footage during significant weather events and newsworthy occurrences.
      • Support the Marketing Department with errands and clerical tasks as needed.

      Work Environment:

      • Ability to ski or snowboard for up to five hours in expert-only conditions.
      • Work while standing or sitting for extended periods.
      • Work at a computer with a keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
      • Perform duties in varying and often extreme weather conditions.
      • Work weekends and holidays.
      • Lift objects weighing 10-20 pounds infrequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

      Safety & Wellness:

      All team members must be vigilant for any unsafe conditions and behaviors. This includes periodic inspections of work and public areas, with follow-up actions to address any issues promptly.
