      This position involves operating and managing the snowmaking pumps and compressors for Steamboat Ski & Resort's snowmaking operations. This position must safely operate a snowmobile in a noisy, fast paced environment. Computer proficiency is also required for the position.

      Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

      • Operate and manage snowmaking pumps and compressors using a computer interface
      • Maintain the computer database in a timely and accurate manner
      • Maintain logs for snowmobiles, radios and certain other equipment
      • Perform light maintenance on certain equipment as required
      • Work with snowmaking foreman to efficiently manage system resources and maintain the snowmaking control building
      • Maintain small inventory of supplies (paper goods, first-aid, etc.)


      Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:
      • Must safely operate a snowmobile (will train)
      • Computer experience, education and ability required for the job
      • Work independently and make decisions based on company and department policies
      • Supervisory skills desired
      • Adhere to all safety policies
      • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's Service Excellence standards


      Physical Requirements:
      • Must work in a noisy, fast paced environment
      • Must work safely outdoors in inclement conditions
      • Must lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
      • Must communicate clearly in English on the phone on the radio and in person
      • Must have a valid driver's license and meet insurability standards
      • Employee must be able to ski or snowboard at a minimum intermediate level


      Miscellaneous information:
      • This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay
      • Position requires working weekends and holidays as needed
      • This does include some field work. Some inspection and maintenance of equipment located outside the control building is required but the majority of the work takes place indoors. Travel to the control building will be on a snowmobile.
      • Employment may be contingent on passing an on-snow assessment of ski/snowboard ability
      • All Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation employees are required to follow adapting COVID policies and guidelines


      The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

      Steamboat area base hourly pay rate: $22.50 per hour
