      Summary

      The Social Impact Intern assists on a variety of projects at Kia for the Social Impact Program, including volunteer events, philanthropy programs, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (“DEI”) initiatives, and corporate communications. The intern will learn how to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, understand how a business can give back to local communities, and learn basic project management for large -scale projects like team member volunteer events. This internship is a 10-week, full-time opportunity at Kia America’s Irvine headquarters. The position is hybrid with one remote day per week.

      Major Responsibilities

      • Assist with team member volunteer events and DEI event/heritage announcements:
        • Draft communications to Kia team members
        • Create event postings on the Accelerate the Good platform
        • Support planning and logistics for events
      • Write short newsletter stories for kia.com's social impact section about employee events, nonprofit partnerships, DEI nonprofit partners, DEI campaigns, etc.
      • Assist with DEI & Social Impact Grant Agreements:
        • Complete data entry to update grantee historical information
        • Analyze grantee final reports to pull stories and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
      • Research and write DEI learning campaigns for special holidays and heritage months - Ex. Lunar New Year, etc.
      • Assist with Employee Resource Group (“ERG”) management:
        • Draft communications to ERG members, including meeting summary notes, reminders for upcoming meetings, etc.
        • Post agendas and meetings notes to the Accelerate the Good platform
        • Support logistics for ERG events
      • Assist with the management and decorations of the physical Accelerate the Good announcement board in Irvine
      • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed, as necessary.

      Education/Certification

      • Enrolled in or graduated from a bachelor’s degree program required.

      Overall Experience

      • Prior internship experience a plus
      • Curiosity, creativity and an eagerness to learn required
      • Experience with database entry and management required
      • Experience with Canva and basic graphic design skills a plus

      Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications required
      Solid understanding of business etiquette required
      Strong, clear and concise communication and writing skills required
      Solid attention to detail, time management and prioritization skills required
