      Social Media Video Internship Description

      We’re advocating for climate solutions that protect parks and people.

      We’re looking for someone that can help us better leverage video on social media to protect national parks! Our ideal candidate will be able to assist the Social Media Content Manager and Senior Video Production Specialist with various aspects of short-form video on our social platforms.

      Location: US/Remote

      Work Status: Part-time; 15 hrs/week

      Ideal Work Schedule: NPCA workdays (Mon-Thu) with preference for solid blocks of time (e.g. not a couple hours in the morning, then a couple hours in the afternoon). But otherwise, flexible based on intern’s schedule.

      Salary (Hourly Rate): Stipend of $3k total

      Responsibilities: We’re looking for someone that can help us better leverage video on social media to protect national parks! Our ideal candidate will be able to assist the Social Media Content Manager and Senior Video Production Specialist with various aspects of short-form video on our social platforms. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

      • Research best practices for social-first video on platforms like TikTok and YouTube and features like Instagram Reels, how they look in practice in the nonprofit industry, and how that could apply to NPCA
      • Participate in brainstorms to form ideas for video content & series
      • Keep a pulse on social trends to bring fresh ideas to NPCA’s social presence
      • Support efforts around our influencer collaborations, such as by researching potential creators to partner with and participating in campaign creation
      • Assist in drafting or finding related content for notable observations (like park anniversaries) for social sharing
      • Analyze video performance, both on specific videos and between multiple videos and platforms
      • Monitor user comments on our social channels
      • Draft social copy and video captions
      • Occasionally support Social Media Manager with NPCA’s non-video social media channels
      • Participate in brainstorms as appropriate for social & other collaborative projects

      Main deliverables may include:

      Final deliverables will be determined based on intern’s specific interests and skills, but generally we expect one larger research project (likely on social-first video) to be presented at either midway through or the end of the internship, as well as additional support throughout the internship on the above items. We want the intern to come away with skills developed, knowledge gained, and tangible project(s) supported at NPCA.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Current college student enrolled in undergraduate (junior or senior) or post-graduate program; or recent college graduate (within one year of graduation).
      • Experience with video-first social media platforms and features (particularly TikTok, YouTube, Instagram Reels)
      • Experience with video editing a plus
      • Experience administering an organization’s social accounts or running a social campaign or social ads a plus
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Microsoft Office proficiency
      • Interest in design a plus (including Canva or Photoshop skills)
      • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative
      • Not afraid to seek advice, ask questions, and voice ideas
      • Dependable, flexible and ability to maintain confidentiality
      • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
      • Passion for environmental protection and national parks a plus
