      He angitūtanga: The opportunity

      We are looking for a Social Researcher to join Auckland Council’s Research and Evaluation unit (RIMU). Our RIMU teams provide robust evidence for Auckland Council staff and elected members and thought leadership on emerging issues and opportunities.


      Enjoy the diverse range of issues you will be working on, which may include population growth and change, quality of life, housing, transport, and climate change adaptation. Develop or support high quality research and analysis that provides an evidence base for strategy, policy and programme development. You will have plenty of room to develop your skills and maintain relationships across the council family, central government agencies, key stakeholders and the community.

      This is a unique opportunity to effectively contribute towards the delivery of important strategic outcomes for Tāmaki Makaurau as outlined in the Auckland Plan 2050, Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland's Climate Plan, Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau: Auckland’s Māori Outcomes Framework and council’s Ngā Hapori Momoho / Thriving Communities strategy.

      You have experience in a range of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and evaluation techniques. Ideally, you have a sound understanding of the broad cultural, social, economic, and political context in which Auckland Council is working.

      We will value your ‘can-do’ attitude, as well as your collaborative nature. You take genuine pleasure in working and interacting with a wide range of people.
