      SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for all components of social services programs including food pantry, holiday services, basic needs/direct client assistance and support to individuals and families in need of care. The position works with individuals/families and service providers to maximize delivery of services.

      Responsibilities

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

      • Operate the food pantry service, Corps clothing room and acquire volunteers from agencies such as Pro Action, RSVP, and local community for food pantry or clothing room.• Maintain an inventory of existing services relative to the needs of clients to make referrals as appropriate.• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, officers, and agency information• Develop, Orient, and assist in management of volunteers for various social service programs• Oversight of Shepherds Table feeding program, weekly and yearly re-scheduling• Arrange for transportation and delivery of food and clothing donations for food pantry and clothing room• Manage the reporting requirements for social services funding, EF&SP, UW, SA Stat's, etc.• Coordinate Back to School Program and camp applications for Long Point Camp and other social service initiatives

      • Assist with Christmas Assistance application process, clearinghouse, and distribution process• Develop, implement, and manage tools/systems for records management, both hard and electronic documents• Coordinate emergency assistance with other agencies and keep an updated list• Develop a plan of action for emergency assistance in absence of SS Coordinator• Identify local emergency disasters and confer with Divisions EDS• Attend community social service meetings

      Qualifications

      SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

      • Bachelor's Degree with three years of experience; Master's Degree with one-two years of experience preferred.• Strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.• Excellent typing and computer skills in Microsoft Word, client data base and Excel.• Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.• Participating in team settings. Relevant experience in serving children and families in child welfare, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, primary health care, or social services.• Experience coordinating and working in teams.• Work effectively and knowledgeably across a broad spectrum of cultural, ethnic, and racial communities.• Ability to work in an effective and focused manner when self-directed and beyond immediate oversight.• Ability to deliver family-driven, youth-guided services.• Requires word processing skills and the ability to provide culturally competent practice.• Must have a valid driver's license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.• Provide assistance and/or intervention for families.• Perform all job duties associated with job responsibilities.
