      Summary

      Save the Children is seeking a Social Work Intern to support the work of the Head Start Mental Health Advising Team. In this role you will be supporting Save the Children Head Start mental health and wellness strategy to implement a culture of wellness wherein the mental health and wellness of all children, families, and staff fosters a positive, trauma informed, work and learning environment.

      What You’ll be Doing (Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact)

      • Assisting the Head Start Mental Health Advising Team in developing a written action plan/approach to mental wellness.
      • Assisting State Head Start Programs in developing action plans for supporting mental wellness.
      • Assisting State Programs by creating a community partnership resource directory to include mental health services for children and families.
      • Assisting the Mental Health Advising Team on implementation of the 8-dimentions of wellness across Head Start programs including collecting data on staff participation and feedback.
      • Partnering with the Head Start Mental Health Advising Team in collecting, updating, and analyzing mental health and wellness data to inform mental health and wellness initiatives and professional development trainings across Head Start programs.

      Required Qualifications

      • Must be an actively enrolled Bachelor, Master or other post high school education program, or have graduated within 6 months of intern program start date
      • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and web-based conferencing technology like Microsoft Teams and Zoom™.
      • Currently eligible to work in the U.S.
      • Experience with data-sensitive environments

          • Knowledge in the philosophy and practices of Head Start/Early Head Start
          • Experience working with culturally and socio-economically diverse families and children
          • Strong understanding of working with families using the strength-based approach

          Classification: Paid Intern

          Part-time: 24 hours per week (up to 8 hours max per day)

          Dates: September 23 - December 6, 2024

          Pay: $17.00
