- Substance abuse prevention services and support
- Behavioral Health services and support
- Crisis intervention
- Encouraging parent participation through contacts and home visits with parents who are overburdened
- Individual and/or group counseling with students experiencing mental health or social difficulties
- Navigation of systems and accessing resources for students and their families
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, educational support providers, related service providers, school psychologists, general and special educators, school counselors, and various school staff
- Be familiar with the application of:
- Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)
- Behavior Intervention Planning (BIP)
- Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS)
- Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Develop individual, group or system level interventions which improve identified problems or concerns, including academic, social/emotional/behavioral/mental health needs as they relate to educational progress.
- Use research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making and interventions; and collaborate with school personnel and parents in order to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
- Conduct, interpret and implement student assessment, which includes record review, interview, observation, and standardized assessment.
- Administer and interpret norm-referenced and curriculum-based psychological assessment measures.
- Participate in team-based follow-up activities to review student progress, analyze data, modify individual interventions, and visit families off-campus and in-home.
- Review school-wide assessment data to assist building staff(s) in interpreting and designing school-wide interventions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary staffings to determine the eligibility, appropriate planning, and re-evaluation for students who require special education services/programs.
- Comply with Exceptional Student Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work is performed in a standard classroom setting with some work being performed at various District properties and off-site locations.
- Heavy lifting, bending, stooping, sitting, standing for long periods of time may be required.
- Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
- Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

Salary Schedule: Related Service Provider (range $53,331 - $75,296 based on the 23/24 salary schedules, experience and education)

Summary of Position
The School Social Worker promotes and enhances the overall academic mission by providing services that strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. The School Social Worker significantly contributes to the development of a healthy, safe and caring environment by advancing the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success and by implementing effective intervention strategies.

Sufficient knowledge, training and experience, and competencies to fulfill the roles and responsibilities as a social worker to ensure high-quality service delivery to children, adults and families.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years working in the social worker field and with children and families preferred.
Education:
Minimum of a Masters in an appropriate field of study.
License:
Hold or be eligible to hold a current CDE Special Services Provider license with a School Social Worker endorsement.
