- Develop world-class software architectures that ensure services and components are: well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, reusable, testable, and easily debugged.
- Owns the KPI for the reliability of the embedded software, works with the service and QVS team to understand issues, find their root causes and integrate them into the next quarterly update release.
- Design software architectures with a strong focus on high responsiveness, scalability, robustness, and observability.
- Performs a variety of tasks, both managerial and hands-on. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Architect large scale distributed software services and solutions in collaboration with teammates.
- Identify and develop software architectures that are aimed at improving quality, efficiency, and performance predictability.
- Analyze current software architecture and represent the software organization in major system architecture decisions allowing us to execute on the Fujifilm SONOSITE product roadmap.
- Analyze and map resolution to software issues, then work alongside development teams to ensure that the resolutions meet performance requirements and customer expectations.
- Produce software architecture documentation in compliance with medical device development standards.
- Stay abreast of emerging software technologies and develop strategies to incorporate new technology into the software roadmap.
- Mentor peers and software developers in technologies and methods used to realize software architectural goals.
- Build software prototypes and conduct experiments to evaluate alternative architectures.
- Support software development process improvement initiatives.
- Keep abreast of industry best practices, incorporate them in our software development processes, and mentor colleagues in their application.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. MS Preferred.
- 8-10 years of demonstrable experience in software development and systems integration.
- 3-5 years’ experience successfully leading the deployment of software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented design concepts for embedded devices.
- Deep knowledge of engineering practices and processes for medical devices
- Demonstrated experience developing medical device software compliant with IEC 62304
- Experience with embedded systems preferred.
- Experience writing software in modern programming languages such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
- Must be experienced with prevalent operating systems used for medical device applications (Windows/Linux preferred).
- Experience with real-time software development.
- Experience in developing and integrating scientific calculations, algorithms, or AI models into a complex software with constraints of performance and reliability.
- Knowledge of project management, risk management and iterative development process.
- Experience using Agile scrum methodologies to deliver complex software components in a regulated environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, management, suppliers and vendors.
- Experience with Windows Embedded is highly desirable.

- $170,000.00 - $215,000.00/year + variable bonus opportunity (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).

Position Overview
As the Software Architect, you will help formulate the technical strategy for our ultrasound platforms working on a combination of short-term and long-term initiatives in order to increase our efficiency and effectiveness. You will also drive technology investments and architectural alignments. This role will also identify and drive cross-company initiatives with clearly defined outcomes and metrics. You will oversee the software architecture of all platforms, with ownership of software capability, re-use, quality and reliability. A key contributing decision maker about which technologies to use, how software should be architected, and the technical direction of our ultrasound platforms. This candidate has a passion for breaking down complex problems and identifying solutions that can be implemented by software teams.
