      As an engineer in AFFS, you will be part of a team of high-performing engineers to build, scale, monitor, and optimize services that are the foundation for Amazon's financial reporting. We reliably handle data in high volume and velocity. You will interface with teams and systems inside and outside our org including Business Systems, Financial Systems, and Accounting. Our mission is to provide a world-class customer experience through a data-driven approach and scalable and robust software.

      A successful candidate will be a self-starter and fast learner with an established background in developing high volume and highly available services, strong technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a dynamic fast paced environment.

      In this role you will be helping us build the next generation of Amazon’s financials infrastructure using latest AWS offerings (e.g. Fargate, Lambda, ECS, DDB, VPC, etc.) to deliver industry-leading security controls not previously possible. You will have the opportunity to partner with our Senior and Principal tech leaders to deliver zero-trust distributed systems, applying best practices for API, security and scalable system design.       Key job responsibilities
      The complexity and scale of our services requires a Software Development Engineer who is interested in working on large scale, highly-distributed systems and who can bring new ideas with the confidence to put them to the test as we change the transmission on the rapidly moving bus that is Amazon. We need an innovative Software Development Engineer to help with building next generation application and services built over cloud computing technologies and responsible for the secure, scalable world class cash reconciliation platform.

      These services process and reconcile statements worth over US $250Bn every year. Targeted towards cash accounting users, the system aims to simplify and expedite the cash reconciliation process at Amazon. The system needs to perform a holistic automated reconciliation of all banking activity (receipts, disbursements, inter-company wires, bank fees, etc.) at scale, by systematically performing all the manual tasks that are performed by accountants and analysts on a daily basis.

      About the team
      AFFS OTC (Order To Cash) offer Amazon businesses with bank transactions & remittances ingestion and reconciliation solutions to effectively validate completeness and accuracy of cash positions and remittance transactions. Accounting relies on AFFS OTC products for automated bank transactions and remittance reconciliation process.

      We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

      Seattle, WA, USA- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
      - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
      - Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
      - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

      Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
